Suffolk Interscholastic Court
The Suffolk Interscholastic Court is a new organization which will organize an annual moot court competition that is held at Suffolk University Law School. Teams from New Enlgand area schools will be invited to compete in a spring constitutional law competition. The members of the Court choose the issues that will be litigated and write a fact scenario and lower court opinion which will be the basis for the competition's arguments.
Each school that competes will be assigned a role as Petioner or Respondent and will write a bench memorandum supporting their assigned argument. At the competition the teams will argue"on-brief" (for their assigned side) and "off-brief" (for the opposing side) in preliminary and playoff rounds in front of judges chosen by the Court (including attorneys, professors and judges).
Members are expected to participate in an intra or interscholastic competition during their 2L, 3L or 4L years in order to be accepted for full membership voting rights. The Court conists of executive board positions and senior and junior member positions. Members will work as bailiffs during arguments, assist in scoring written submissions and handle all facets of administartion before and during the tournament.
